trumpeters heralding the end of days (finals)
December 2025
Performance in Mosse Humanities Building, UW Madison

trumpeters heralding the end of days (finals) is an interactive performance that asked seven participants to play blown glass trumpets simultaneously. The untuned instruments create playful dissonance as the participants and viewers march through the hallway of UW Madison's Mosse Humanities 6th floor.

The Book of Revelations is the last of the New Testament in the Christian Bible; it describes the Apocalypse that will occur after the Seven Seals of Hell are opened. The subsequent end of days is heralded by seven angels, each playing a trumpet that unleashes different torments upon the human world. This performance is a college recreation of this Biblical event, in which students inherit the heavenly power to serenade other unknowing students as a prelude to finals week.

Video Description: Title of the work is displayed on a black screen. The video cuts to a group of students gathered in a stairwell, playing the glass trumpets and laughing. The video then cuts to the group marching through the hallways of the 6th floor of Mosse Humanities, still playing the trumpets. the camera pans over the front and back of the group. The video ends, but audio of the trumpets and laughter can still be heard.
